Creating ocean blues and cool skies
💦Dying with red cabbage 💦
🔹Red cabbage is is really pH sensitive and produces colours depending on how acidic or alkaline the ingredients are.
🔹Adding citric acid to this blue red cabbage Dye will turn the colour a vibrant and bright pink.
🔹Adding soda ash (which is an alkaline) turns the blue dye to a lovely pale yellow.
🔹Just by boiling the red cabbage it produces this wonderful deep sea blue colour and depending on how long the fabric I left within the Dye depends on the deepness of the colour.
🔹The best bit is that after the boiling and dying process I can eat the cabbage after meaning 0% of the process is being wasted 💙
▪️The mid-tone blues are dyed with black turtle beans.
▪️The lighter purple you see has been dyed with avocado dye (creates pink) and then a sprinkle of ferrous sulphate (iron) was added to the Dye which turns the colour purple.
▪️Finally, the dark purple has been dyed using log wood.
